Principal

Thank you for visiting the Newport Grammar School webpage. Below is a small sampling of my goal and plan as the Principal of this outstanding school.

My goal for Newport Grammar School is to continue to offer exceptional educational and extracurricular opportunities for all of our students. We want to grow our programs to keep up with the changing needs of our society.

I plan to continue working with our staff, parents and students to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of our student body. We are a community school and I want our families to feel confident in what is taking place inside our school on a daily basis.

If there is anything that I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to call or email me. I am looking forward to another great year at NGS!

About Mr. Morrow

I was born in Columbus, Ohio and raised in Lexington, Ky (However, I was raised an Ohio State Buckeye!) I grew up playing baseball, and my senior year my high school baseball team won the state championship. I came to Tennessee to attend Tusculum College, where I earned a degree in Secondary Mathematics Education while also playing baseball. I am very proud that I was named an Academic All-American during the 2008 season.

I began my teaching and coaching career at Chuckey-Doak High School in 2008. I taught Algebra and Geometry, as well as coached baseball and football while at C-D. I married my beautiful wife Sara right here in Newport in 2010. She grew up in Parrottsville and has been teaching 2nd grade at NGS since 2009. We moved to Newport in 2012 and I began teaching math and coaching baseball at Cocke County High School. I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Bethel University in 2014. In 2015, our daughter Caroline was born and she has been our whole world since.

I earned my Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership in 2017 from Lincoln Memorial University. That was the same year that I had the opportunity to join the team at Newport Grammar as the Assistant Principal. In the Fall of 2022, I was named the Principal of NGS. I have enjoyed getting to know the faculty, staff, students, parents, and community members during my time here. I am looking forward to this school year and all of the exciting opportunities it will hold for the NGS family.
